DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: WHEN TO MEDIATE?
Compulsory family dispute
resolution has been operating in Australia for well over a year.
Although domestic violence is
one of the grounds for exemption in the legislation, mediation between couples
often takes place when DV has occurred during the relationship.
By popular request Ian
Goodhardt returns to discuss the issue on a panel with Allie Bailey who has
worked in the area for 15 years.
Ian
Goodhardt has spent over two decades counselling and mediating families and is currently
working as a family dispute resolution practitioner at the Family Mediation
Centre. In the last year, he has provided accreditation training for
practitioners. Ian is a wonderful speaker who is returning to VADR to discuss
this topic at the request of many of you.
Allie Bailey
has been involved in research, training and consulting about family violence
for over 15 years, and has trained as an FDRP.
She worked until recently at the Domestic Violence Resource Centre
Victoria, working with various FDR services. She has also provided consultation
on the development of the national FDR screening guidelines relating to family
violence and is currently working in research at Melbourne University’s Law
School.
